Unidentified armed men were reported to have attacked the campaign train of the Peoples Democratic Party during the party’s campaign for the forthcoming By-election in Osun West Senatorial District in Gbongan and Ode-Omu in Ayedaade Local Government of Osun State.
Amiloaded gathered that the suspected hoodlums attacked the party men when they were presenting their candidate, Otunba Ademola Adeleke to the people of Gbongan when the armed men appeared from nowhere and started attacking the party faithfuls.
It was also gathered that some of the Adeleke’s supporters the total number which were yet unknown as at the time of filing this report sustained various degrees of wounds just as vehicles and other properties belonging to the party were destroyed by the hoodlums
However luck ran out for the thugs as the people of the town came out in large numbers and over powered them.
Though the hoodlums are yet to be identified.
While giving the accounts of the incident, the PDP party Chairman, Hon. Soji Adagunodo described the incident as unfortunate, saying it was a bad omen to our democracy.
Adagunodo said he had earlier raised an alarm that some suspected political thugs were planning to unleash terror on the campaign train of the PDP candidate.
He, therefore, called on security agents to investigate the incident and bring the perpetrators to book.
