As we mark the 2017 World Radio Day, the Executive and members of the Broadcast Journalists Association of Nigeria join Radio Producers, Presenters, News anchors and listeners across the world to celebrate one of the most powerful communication gadgets.

February 13th is about celebrating radio, why we love it, why we need it and why we should continue to extend its reach.

As a body of Broadcast Journalists specialised in Radio and Television News gathering and production, we see today as a day to remember the unique power of radio, to touch lives and bring people together across every corner of the globe.

We celebrate the power, the sound, the creativity and strength of the ubiquitous communication tool.

We also urge our members across the country to continue to discharge their duties diligently and continue to exhibit high sense of professionalism.

They should at all time be mindful of the strength, power and sensitive nature of the radio platform.

We also commend the doggedness of Radio station owners and managers in Nigeria, that despite the paucity of funds, poor electricity supply and low patronage, they still manage to operate.

As we rejoice and celebrate the wonderful and most assessable  communication tool, we urge Nigerians to continue to give adequate support to journalists in the discharge of their duties in order to make our country better.

Signed
Kazeem Olowe,
President, Broadcast Journalists, Association of Nigeria.
