South West PDP Youths Condemn Illegal Witch-hunting of Senator Kashamu

The South West Youth Leaders Forum during a press conference held today 7th February at Osogbo, has condemned the unrepentant ill-use of the media for gross misinformation of the Nigerian populace about Senator Kashamu Buruji representing Ogun West on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP for allegedly being wanted in the United States of America to face trial for drug trafficking. The senator has proven by all standards to be a law abiding and responsible citizen of Nigeria.

The south west youth leaders condemn the current witch – hunting of Senator Buruji Kashamu by faceless and intellectually weak political bigots and their collaborators within the system who have together made several attempts at undermining our local legal system and the rule of law.

Youth leaders hereby call on the Federal Government as a matter of urgency and safeguard of our National Integrity/Image to look into the sinister agenda of this faceless politicians who have used the media of this Nation to raise a false alarm; with particular mention of the negative dimension  and adverse ramifications such false alarm could deal on the Foreign image of our dear fatherland, not leaving out the capacity of such untamed News to discourage International Investors whose investment capacity could help our local Economic Growth and Development.

Repeated nullification and dismissal of the allegation against Senator Kashamu by several courts of competent Jurisdiction both in the UK and NIGERIA was mentioned: This runs amidst some worrisome political attempts to use the NDLEA National Drug law Enforcement Agency.

They are hereby calling on the attention of the Federal Government to the Sharp contradictions between the two regimes of NDLEA involvements in this Senator Kashamu’s Issue. It is informative to note that as at 10th January, 2003 under District Judge Tim Workman in the UK wherein the NDLEA was represented by Mr. Femi Oloruntoba (Director of Prosecution,NDLEA) Mr Dan Asabe Umaru (Director Operation,NDLEA) and Col. Nwako Reuben (Rtd) – Director of Assets and Investigation,NDLEA;all the NDLEA trio testified in favour of Senator Kashamu. Present also at the persecution process were officers from the Togolese Government and Beninoise Government:
The NPF (Interpol Department) after conducting a thorough investigation on the same allegation also published a report dated March 4th 2008 duely signed, in which they stated unambiguously that all letters written to Interpol London, Lyon, Washington and Cotonou relating to conviction / drug records of Senator Kashamu were all returned negative to the effect that Senator Kashamu was never convicted of such offences in their respective territories”.

It will be recalled that Comrade Buruji Kashamu has invested more than any government or individual in the South West and Nigeria at large on Youth Empowerment Schemes, Youth Entrepreneurial Training, Local and Foreign Education Sponsorship, Medical Aide Projects, Widow-Aide Programmes, Care for the Aged.

For clarity, we wish to state the truths surrounding the political witch-hunting of Senator Kashamu which the political bigots have tried without any success to design in a legal-robe.
