Gov. Aregbesola’s Official DJ – Bassman, Relieves His Touching Grass-to-Grace Story (Must Read)

DJ Bass Man in an interview session with Amiloaded correspondent shared his full life story.

Details as follows;

My name is Oluwaseun Tanimola S. Ekundayo-Salawu aka DJ Bassman. I was born on April 7 years back in Ile- Ife and I live in Osogbo, State of Osun. I’m a proud Nigerian. I’m the last in a
family of five. A graduate of Mass communication from The
Osun State Polytechnic, Iree.

I was raised single-handled by my late mother Alhaja Fowosere Ekundayo-Salawu (iya adinni of eleyele mosque ile Ife, CEO Igbehin Adun food canteen aka Sowofue) when my father Ekundayo (baba olopa) died in March 25,1982. Her resilience and self-belief made it possible for me to be alive today.

I became a DJ and I took the name DJ Bassman, yeah DJ Bassman. I started playing music for my people in my area, obalufon, London street around Oja titun ile Ife. And I would normally DJ like this:- the great DJ in the building, it’s the biggest, hottest, the famous DJ in the whole music planet.

Kicking it real banging, Omo iya sowofue, iya alamala is here.

History in the making baby, it’s the nation pride beyond your imagination! It’s the most wanted DJ. I’m DJ Bassman. At the age of 20,it was though, rough and hard. I spent many frustrating days and nights but nevertheless at 23,I conquered.

The fun started with Eko FM as an intern and later NTA ile Ife in October 2003 as a TV presenter of musical programme called Musical Jamboree with my colleague Gbeng Elutidoye and Osogbo in 2005 where I met Tony Awoseyin and Tunde, I joined them on a programme called Mega Fun Show and was the personal assistant to the then General manager late prince Ben Adedire who hails from ile Ife and a senior brother to Mr Seyi Akewi. Oh Alhaji Ibrahim Alege and Alhaji mabayoje was with NTA Osogbo then if I could remember.

Then an amazing opportunity came to me later in 2005 and 2006 through Mr. Olusola Ladi Bolaji a senior producer in Osbc radio then paired me with DJ Angel on weekend sounds and rap, my friend DJ angel now present Angel Zone on Osbc tv and I became the youngest radio and presenter under the supervision of Mr Olusola Ajala Biggie.

Today, I have inspired many youths in the State of osun, the first DJ to present on TV, first to author a book titled “All About Disc Jockeying”, first to host music awards, beauty pageantry, first to mounted a DJ billboard in Nigeria, first official DJ to the state Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun, first official In-house Radio DJ of Rave-fm Nigeria to mentioned a few. I have also promoted and still promoting the young ones within my power.

Since, my story has been featured by different national newspaper E.g The Punch newspaper more than eight times with the help of Mr Tunde Odesola and Ademola Olonilua and not forgetting Prince Hameed Oyegbade now the Chairman NUJ Chapel Osun, who happened to be my course mate then in school who in the history of my life gave me a full page interviewed in 2007. I’m greatly, humbled and delighted by this.

And if I’m asked to summarize the lesson of life so far, there is one thing that I would say, my story is just like that of a young Sierra Leonean young DJ Focus whom I watched his story and said, creativity is universal and can be found in places where one does not expect to find it.

Perseverance and passion are essential to nurture that creativity ability. So now that you know my story, I urge you, most especially our politicians to look for young people with talent, creative abilities and passion in all places.

Not just place you might expect to find it. And I ask you to support these young people, invest in them, just as so many people have supported me.

You never know you might see the next person who will be greater than the famous DJ Bassman.

Now, I feel so good that, my late mother was so proud of me before she died. You too can make someone proud with your story.

Thanks to God and you all.
