UNIOSUN Students Holds Successful Meeting Today

The students of Osun State University, cut across the six campuses held a general meeting today at the Faculty of Agriculture, Ejigbo Campus, in order to discuss matters affecting the University at large.

    The meeting was headed by the Chairman of the Joint Campus Committee, Comrade Victor Ohamara, along with the other members of the committee. The committee started by stating the development of the upcoming Student Union Government (S.U.G). They stated that the S.U.G elections would be coming up soon, after an electoral committee would have been chosen at the upcoming General congress at Ipetu-Ijesha, on February 3rd.

     A 1-minute silence was exercised to honour the deceased that died recently at Oshogbo Campus. The issue of insecurity was addressed, and students expressed their grievances and displeasures toward the rate at which the state policemen were harassing students, in the name of Yahoo-Yahoo boys.

      A letter of protest was however reported to have been dropped to the Inspector General of Police, Osun State, by the Joint Campus Committee, to express the students anger and displeasure towards the acts of the policemen and also, demanded that the two policemen who shot two students last Saturday, be brought before justice in public, as soon as possible.

     However, while discussing the issue of the “indefinite closure” of the campuses by the management, Comrade Kabiyesi, a major stakeholder from Oshogbo campus said, “We have held various meetings with the school management and we have been assured  that we will resume on Monday.”

     In an interview with the President of Ejigbo campus, after the meeting, he said, “I am happy for the unity and progress among the six campuses; Although there was a little rift among out campus and Okuku campus but, we were able to calm ourselves and stand with one aluta voice, especially with the help of Comrade Ohamara.”

    The Speaker of FAHSA, Ikire Campus, Honourable Gbonegun Great  his delight in the gathering of the campuses and promised to join hands in the progress of the six campuses, as one. However students were told to correct the notion that the hospital refused to attend to the late Feyisara, as the hospital did the best they could but,it was already late, after listening to from a reliable source.
