Youth Group Celebrates Osun @ 26, Wants Members Involved in Politics

The youths in the state of Osun have rejoiced with the people and government of the state on its 26th year anniversary.

Osun State which was created from the old Oyo State on the 27th August, 1991 clocks 26th today.

The Youths under the umbrella body, Osun Youth Arise (OYA), stated that the state has witnessed steady growth and development since its creation under successive administrations.

In a press statement in commemoration of the anniversary, signed by the group’s State Coordinator and Publicity Secretary, Asimiyu Badru and Alugbin Matthew, the founding fathers of the state were praised for their foresight and unity of purpose which culminated into the state creation in 1991.

OYA used the occasion to encourage the youths to actively participate in politics and take the front burner in the affairs of governance stressing that joining political parties is one of the key steps to participating in politics and governance.

The statement called on the youths from across the state especially its members to attend a sensitisation program holding at Cooperative Complex, Opposite Skye Bank, Fagbewesa, Osogbo on 4th September, 2017 by 11am.

The group revealed that “experienced politicians who have been elected or held one position or the other have been drawn to speak on the topic “Party Politics: How Youths Can Scale the Hurdles”.

“The fundamental ideology behind the formation of Osun Youth Arise (OYA) was borne out of the need to contribute our quota to the socio-political
development in Osun State, and upgrade the leadership potentials of Osun
youths.”, the statement said.

OYA rejoiced with the Osun State governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola and the entire people of the State on this occasion and pray that the years to come will witness tremendous human and infrastructural developments and attain unrivalled height among its peers.
