President Muhammadu Buhari has arrived the Eagle Square venue of the National Convention of the All Progressives Congress.
He arrived at 10:03pm to a rousing welcome by party leaders, delegates, and supporters.
Saturday’s event started with the national anthem which was followed in quick succession by Christian and Muslim prayers.
Chairman of the Convention Planning Committee, Governor Abiola Ajumobi, in his address recalled that at a similar event in 2014, party members gathered to elect a presidential candidate and added that, “Nigeria is now a better, less corrupt and more purposeful country.”
He said this was made possible by the purpose driven leadership President Muhammadu Buhari had provided over the last three years.
Ajumobi said the day’s event was designed to once again choose the time-tested General who had improved Nigeria’s international image and had led by example.
The convention committee chairman appealed to all to support his (Buhari) candidature ahead of the 2019 election.
He urged party members not to be distracted by the antics and propaganda of the opposition by keeping their eyes on the ball.
