UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital Holds Cocktail Party, Charges Resident Doctors On Productivity

The Resident Doctors of the UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital, Osogbo, Osun State, have been charged on productivity in the course of discharging their duties, AMILOADED reports.

The Special Adviser to Osun State Governor on Public Health, Pharmacist Adesiji Olamiju, gave the advice at the Cocktail Party organised by the management of the hospital in honour of the 24 Resident Doctors and award of commendation to some selected staff.

The Resident Doctors became Consultants on Wednesday after passing their Postgraduate examinations in the West African College as well as National Postgraduate College.

The 24 Resident Doctors qualified as Fellows/Consultants in various specialties between October last year and May this year.

Specialties of these doctors include Plastic surgery, Orthopaedic Surgery, Internal Medicine (Endocrinology and Pulmonology), Family Medicine, Paediatrics, Psychiatry, Obstetrics and Gynaecology as well as Anaesthesia.

Speaking at the event, Pharmacist Olamiju urged the doctors to see their new elevation as a responsibility that requires hardwork.

He further congratulated the Chief Medical Director and his Team for the new feat despite the challenges facing the hospital over the years.

In his remarks, the Chief Medical Director, UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital, Prof. Peter Babatunde Olaitan appreciated God on behalf of the celebrants just as he urged them to see the achievement as a beginning of training.

He also appreciated the Osun State Governor, Gboyega Oyetola, for his numerous and continuous contributions towards the development of the hospital, which according to him, include the implementation of new salary structure, employment of additional staff as well as improving the infrastructures of the hospital.

The CMD revealed that the 24 Consultants were produced in the hospital within six months which was the first of its kind in the history of UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital.

The hospital, therefore, gave awards of excellence and good behaviour to the best three well-behaved staff members for the year 2020.

While responding on behalf of the celebrants, Dr Emmanuel Erinfolami of Anaesthesia Department, appreciated the CMD and his team for their usual support and encouragement which propelled them to move forward.of
