UNILORIN Chapter of NAOSS Holds Youth Summit As Students Tasked On Academic Excellence (See Photos)

Undergraduates have been tasked to ensure that their academic standard is improved in order to be able to give a commensurate leadership traits in their future careers.

This charge was given by a Chief Magistrate at the Osun state judiciary, Mrs. Habibat Bashiru at the 2nd edition of Youth Forum organised by the university of Ilorin chapter of National Association of Osun State Students (NAOSS) on Wednesday, 24th of April, 2019.

Delivering her lecture entitled: “Leadership and Academic Excellence: A Coin of Two Opposing Sides?”, Mrs Bashiru, the keynote speaker, took the audience through the concepts of leadership, its traits, nature and scopes, and its associated theories for better understanding.

According to her, leadership means giving the lead to others adding that “leadership is an action of leading back group of people  in a society or organisation.”

She advised students to be studious  and be of good conducts in order to be great leaders of tomorrow.

The programme saw the convergence of illustrious sons and daughters of Osun State at the event.

Earlier in his welcome address, the president of NAOSS, Comrade Afolabi AbdulMalik Omogbolahan, stated that NAOSS is an umbrella body of all students from the state and it was set out to promote the heritage of the state at the grassroot level.

In the last eight months, Omogbolahan said that the indigenous association is making frantic efforts to reform it saying that banners have been placed in strategic places of the university environs to further increase the association’s publicity.

Other activities that NAOSS strivesbto achieve is rebranding of the weekly congress’ dimension, the first ever online symposium of the association, which the distinguished Hon. Olatunji, representing Ife North  graced, sometimes 7 months ago.

He said, “also, we have also tried to enhance the administrative framework of NAOSS by developing a nine month strategic plan to set the pathway for  programs and activities with clear milestones and deliverables. We are working very hard to raise the standards of our corporate governance and financial management and also strengthen financial controls and reporting.”

The forum also witnessed awards presentation to outstanding members and dignitaries; the launching of the association’s Android Apps and the panelists session where issues relating to self development in the face of social and other limiting factors were discussed.

Amongst the assembled panelists were Magistrate Habibat Bashiru, Hon.Tunde Olatunji; A member of Osun State House of Assembly, . The session was anchored by Omotayo Idris, the university Students’ Union Attorney General.

Other dignitaries at the event were the Sub Dean of the university Students’ Affairs, Dr Alex Akanmu; the Students’ Union President, Com. Animasahun Oluseyi and his Senate council counterpart, Mr Akano Jesunifemi, amongst others.
