The police have been accused of causing the death of a pregnant woman in Ogun state.
The police spokesperson in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the incident but absolved the police of blame over the woman’s death.
He said the police officers enforcing the state government directive on social distancing stopped and interrogated the occupants of the motorcycle rider for carrying three people in defiance to the physical distancing directive.
Oyeyemi, however, pointed out that the officers allowed the motorcycle pass the checkpoint when they were informed that the woman was being conveyed to the hospital for delivery.
