The Chief Whip of the State of Osun House of Assembly, Mr Tunde Olatunji says, the supreme court judgement that affirmed the victory of Mr Gboyega Oyetola as the validly elected Governor of the State is the will of God and a reaffirmation of the choice of the good people of Osun State.
Reacting to the judgement in Oshogbo, Mr Olatunji said,” God had clearly spoken since September last year and the Apex judicial body in Nigeria has just confirmed that truly God rules in the affairs of men”.
He explained that before reaching the highest echelon of the justice administration system in Nigeria, the court of Appeal had already extensively examined factual and legal issues raised in the case , resolving majority of the matter in favour of the Governor, confirming that the APC truly won the election.
The Osun Assembly Chief Whip pointed out that the high expectation of all parties that patiently waited for the verdict was a proof that Nigerians believed in peaceful resolutions of conflicts, rather than resulting to self help.
Mr Olatunji maintained that Nigeria democracy was sincerely on the path of sustainable growth, giving the reactions of the people to the outcome of the entire litigation process, including supporters of the ruling APC and the opposition alike.
For Mr Olatunji, ” in any contest , there will always be winners and losers. Institutional framework has been provided to resolve any emerging conflicts in the process. It would only do Nigeria more good for all stakeholders to allow the process to run its natural course as in the instance case.”
” The efforts of the PDP and its candidate is commendable, for adopting a civil approach in challenging the process from the beginning to the end. This remains the only attitude to deepening democracy in the interest of tranquility, peaceful coexistence and socio economic development of our dear state and country “.
Mr Olatunji assured that with the victory, Governor Oyetola had received more psychological boost in the aggressive implementation of well conceived policies for the consolidation of the transformation that started in the state over 8 years ago. I can assure that Governor Oyetola will deliver excellently well.
He therefore called on all political parties, stakeholders and all citizens of the state to join hands with the governor, saying “the task of developing the state is a joint civic responsibility of all “.
