The Elerinmo of Erinmo Ijesa,Oba(Dr) Michael Odunayo Ajayi Arowotawaya the second, has described the philanthropic gesture of some indigenes of the town who are in diaspora as commendable and ways of encouraging excellence in education.
Oba Arowotawaya stated this after payment of National Examination council examination for students in Erinmo Ijesa.
The royal father noted that students of the ancient town have in the past been deprived of the opportunity to write NECO Examinations due to lack of funds to register.
According to him “I was touched by the plights of my people having difficulties in registering for NECO Examinations, hence I rallied money from myself and some of our indigenes abroad to get them registered this time around”.
Oba Arowotawaya who described education as the best legacy one can bequeath on the children, maintained that students in Erinmo Ijesa will now have alternative to WAEC to pursue higher Education.
The natural ruler however implored the beneficiaries to justify the huge amount expended on them by aiming high and study hard for the examination.
He said all students in senior secondary school three in Erinmo Ijesa were registered for the NECO Examinations.
This would be the first time in many years that students in Erinmo Ijesa will write NECO Examinations.
In a related development,it is a season of good tidings for the whole of Erinmo and students and teachers of Erinmo Grammar School as
the Association of Sons and Daughters of Erinmo-Ijesa indigenes in Diaspora,ERINMO- IJESA DIASPORA HERITAGE (EIDH) led by Barrister Jonathan Omosebi have graded the long abandoned road from Oke Ode (Post Office) leading to Erinmo-Ijesa Community Grammar School as one of this year’s community projects .
According to a release by the association, this step was taken so as to enable the academic communities and the people of the ancient town to have easy access to the school and its environs and also to compliments the developmental strides of Kabiyesi in the town.
