Security Challenges: Owu Obas Meet, Demand Restructuring Of Nigeria’s Security System

To tackle rise in the cases of killings and other security challenges in the country, the Council  of Owu Obas has called on the Federal Government to restructure the security system of the nation to forestall further deadly occurences.

The traditional rulers made this demand at thirteen maiden meeting on Wednesday at the palace of their chairman, the Olowu of Kuta Kingdom, Kuta, Osun State, Oba Hammed Adekunle Oyelude Makama, Tegbosun III.

According to the royal fathers, it was pertinent at this juncture for the Buhari-led Federal Government administration to restructure the security architecture of the country in a bid to fulfill its constitutional role of securing the lives and property of Nigerians.

While commending the Federal Government for its Economic Recovery Growth Plan through its diversification of the  nation’s economy with emphasis on Agriculture, the Owu Obas tasked him to work more on security in order to put an end to killings happening in some parts of the country.

They also called for peace among political actors at all levels asking them to play by the rules and not to make the electioneering a “do or die” approach.

The Obas said they are not unmindful of the happenings in the country as only a peaceful and harmonious nations preserves their stools and domains

In attendance at the meeting include Olowu Abeokuta, Olowu of Iji, Olowu Ijebu, Olowu Isin Kwara, Olowu Ikosi, Olowu Gbawojo,Olowu Telemu, Generalg Ekundayo Opaleye among others.
