Rep Blames Plateau Attacks On Porous Border

A member of the National Assembly, Dachung Musa Bagos, has blamed the incessant gunmen attacks in Plateau communities on porous security surveillance.

The PUNCH had reported that gunmen had last week killed at least twelve persons in separate attacks in Ancha and Te’egbe communities, in Bassa Local Government Area of the state.

The gunmen also killed another two persons on Friday in Durbi village, Jos East LGA, one of the Council Areas that make up the Jos East/Jos South Federal Constituency being represented by Bagos at the National Assembly.

Bagos who visited the attacked community on Sunday urged the Federal and State government as well as security agencies to take immediate action on border surveillance of the Jos East LG to curtail the incessant killings in the various communities.

The lawmaker noted the porous nature of the borders has contributed to the continuous attacks and killings of his Constituents.

Describing the killing as barbaric and evil against his people, the lawmaker said the federal and state governments, as well as security agencies, must deploy 21st Century strategies in addressing the security challenges in the State.

Bagos said, “Our borders are porous especially in Jos East, both Federal and State government should take immediate action of surveillance within our communities, government and security agencies must deployed technology 21st Century most especially since Jos East has hills there should be satellite surveillance to track down the perpetrators of this evil act.”

The Federal lawmaker also called on the State Government to create access roads to the communities to reduce the killings of innocent citizens.

“Everything has its season, we need the government to deploy technology into addressing the incessant attacks and killings of our innocent citizens, especially youths, women and children in Plateau State,” he said.

The member of the House of Representatives said it is worrisome to witness attacks in communities as terrorists invade and unleash terror without being arrested.

The traditional ruler of Durbi Village, Shere West Agwom Itse Kaze, Chairman Afizere Cultural and Community Development Association, Elder Itsegok Azi, and clergy COCIN LCC Durbi, Rev. Mark Ajik, commended the lawmaker for visiting the community to commiserate with them.

They both appreciated the timely response of the lawmaker, saying they are happy with the good representation of the lawmaker at the National Assembly and pleaded with him to lobby for access roads and the provision of communication services to the communities.
