Prince Adewopo Felicitates With Muslims, Seeks For Peace And Unity

As Muslim faithfuls across the world mark this year’s Eid-el- Kabir, Prince (Dr.) Ayoade Adewopo, PDP Chieftain and gubernatorial aspirant in the 2018 governorship elections in Osun State has called on Nigerians to continue to pray for the peace and unity of the country.

Prince Adewopo in a special Sallah message to mark the Eid-el-Kabir Sallah celebration said the ceremony connotes sacrifice, selflessness, love and total submission to the will of Allah (SWT).

He therefore urged Muslim faithfuls to learn from the good lessons of the Eid-el-Kabir stressing that Islam, which means peace, preaches love, understanding and peaceful co-existence irrespective of religious or ethnic affiliations.

“I therefore admonish us to learn from the good lessons of Eid-el-Kabir. As Muslims, you are aware that Islam means peace and preaches love, understanding and peaceful co-existence amongst members of every community, irrespective of religious or ethnic affiliations.

“We should strive to imbibe and exhibit the good virtues of Islam by promoting peace and harmony among our diverse people”, he stated.

According to him, without peace, there will be no meaningful development in the Osun state and Nigeria as a whole.

Addressing the press, Adewopo called on youths to celebrate the Sallah calmly and avoid anti-social behaviours.

While calling for peaceful coexistence among the diverse people of the State, Adewopo appealed that citizens should treat everyone equally without any form of sentiment, be it political, religious or ethnic.

Adewopo further congratulated all Nigerians who successfully performed the Hajj this year in fulfilment of a key injunction of their faith. He also urged Nigerians to imbibe the lessons of commitment, dedication and obedience to higher authority inherent in Prophet Ibraheem’s willingness to sacrifice his son in deference to the will of God which Eid-El-Kabir commemorates.

Adewopo who also stressed the need for Nigeria as a country to re-invent and set our priorities right, said that as a country , we must also take more pro-active measures that would help us confront multi-faceted problems of kidnappings, armed robberies, arms proliferations, smuggling, unemployment, youths restiveness and decaying infrastructure if confidence and faith in the unity of the country must be restored.

He said ‘’We ask the Almighty Allah to give us leaders that will lead us to collectively nurture a God-fearing society with sound moral values, ethics and rule of law.”

‘’At this year’s celebration, we need more prayers and total dedication now than ever before. Nigeria is at a critical political crossroads coupled with our prostrate economy. We need strong leadership that is prepared to address the greater challenges confronting the country at the moment.

‘’We must be bold to tell the truth in the interest of our country and her people. Our dear country needs capable and result-driven leadership to steer the ship of state in the emerging new world order which places premium on breaking new grounds to create opportunities for our teeming population.”

‘’As we speak, the security situation of the country is nothing to write home about. The spate of kidnappings, armed robberies, arms proliferations, smugglings, unemployment, youths restiveness and decaying infrastructure calls for worry particularly in a society where the moral values have taken a nose dive.”
