Five students and three staff of the college were abducted after some suspected kidnappers broke the fence and gained access into the school premises of the school on Friday January the 13th 2017.
Five days after the incident, the Police Intelligence Response Team in Warri, Delta State arrested one of the three leaders of the suspected kidnappers Phillip Joel Kakadu, popularly known as ‘General Kakadu’.
During interrogation he told the Police that five of his boys were among the 16-man gang that operated at the Nigerian-Turkish.
It was later speculated that the kidnappers have been demanding for 1.6 billion naira to release all the eight persons abducted but Police denied the claim and appealed to families of the kidnap victims not to negotiate with criminals.
Earlier today, the AIG in charge of zone 2 Kayode Aderanti told journalists in Abeokuta that the kidnapped students and staff of the Nigerian Turkish College would be rescued under 24 hours and he kept his promise.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations officer, Ogun State Command, Abimbola Oyeyemi said all the eight victims have been rescued and they are in stable conduction.
He said ‘yes it’s true that they have been rescued and they are okay’. He noted.
