Panic As Suspected Cultist Kills Prospective Corps Member, Motorcyclist In Osun

There was panic in Ede, the host community of Federal Polytechnic, Osun State, on Thursday,as students protested the killing of a prospective corps member and a commercial motorcyclist in the town, AMILOADED reports.

It was gathered that the prospective corps member, Hassan Adedeji, had just graduated from the institution, but was still in the community to prepare for his clearance before proceeding for the compulsory youth service.

A resident of the community, who gave his name as Kabiru, disclosed that “Hassan and the motorcyclist were shot several times at Bode, via Agbalemobode, around 10pm on Wednesday.

“On Thursday morning, students thronged the streets and made bonfires at junctions. They were so violent in their protest. Shops and businesses were closed down around the campus because the students attacked residents,” Kabiru said.

Confirming the incident, the polytechnic spokesman, Sola Lawal, said, “An HND graduate of Banking and Finance, Hassan Adedeji, who was awaiting the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) call-up letter, and a commercial motorcyclist were shot dead last night in Ede.

“The polytechnic management is very sad about this unfortunate incident. Let me use this medium to appeal to our students to remain calm and law-abiding, while we await final police investigation of the dastardly act.

“May Almighty God give the bereaved family the fortitude to bear the loss.”

 

Speaking on the incident, the Osun State Police Public Relations Officer, Yemisi Opalola, said a suspected cultist, Rasheed Okolu, has been identified as the prime suspect in the murder case.

Opalola added that the State Police Commissioner, Olawale Olokode, has vowed to arrest the prime suspect.
