Hundreds of student leaders and youths in Ila Orangun, Osun State have protested the reported siting of a Federal College of Education in Iwo.
Armed with leaves and placards bearing varying inscriptions, the protesters stormed the residence of a former Governor of the Sate, Chief Bisi Akande and the palace of their traditional ruler, the Orangun of Ila, and demanded that the institution be located to Ila.
They also besieged the residence of a member of House of Representatives representing Ila/Boluwaduro/Ifedayo Federal Constituency in Osun State, Hon. Femi Fakaye in protest against the reported approval of President Muhammadu Buhari for the location of the school in Iwo.
The protesting youths and students defiled the physical distance measures to express their displeasure on why the Federal College of Education was not zoned to Ila Orangun.
While changing songs to drive home their points, the protesters stormed the major roads leading Orangun Palace, Bisi Akande residence, and many other places.
They carried placards with inscriptions such as “Orangun Wake Up”, “Enough Is Enough”, ” No More Bisi Akande And Orangun In Ila”, “Give Us Our Right” among others.
Some thugs allegedly attacked and damaged the car of a notable political stakeholder in the town, Hon. Abdullateef Adebisi.
Comrade Adewuyi Adewale, the National President of Ila Orangun Students Association (INSA) who led the protest said: “We, the Youths and Student Leaders protested today in Ila Orangun to inform the political stakeholders in the town and the Orangun of Ila that we are not happy with the allocation of Federal College of Education to Iwo. We want it to be in Ila Orangun. The town deserves it a lot.
” We went to the residence of Hon. Fakeye, we were told he is not around. We stormed the residence of Chief Bisi Akande, we were also he is not around.
“We were told the news of allocation of the College to Iwo is not yet ascertain. Either it is true or not, all we want is that the allocation of Federal College of Education should be in Ila Orangun.
” We will write to the Commissioner of Police and many other stakeholders on this our stand. The Federal College of Education must be allocated to Ila Orangun not Iwo land.”
I really don’t understand if we actually have leaders in Ila orangun, leaders after their own pockets, what a pity
These people are fools,is Iwo not a town in Osun State?you have a state College of Education you still complain, what of bigger towns without a higher Institution?
See your grammar, ogede olodo ” give us want we want. Is Ila Orangun is only town in osun ? You have state college of education, Iwo did not fight you, police training school was located in ila Orangun , Iwo did not fight And heaven did not for.
Ila orangun deserve it the most
It’s the right time for all our sons ‘
daughters ‘ to come together and forget whatever their differences may be and work together for the glory of our town. Whatever efforts once a secretary, deputy Gov., governor, interim CHAIRMAN of the ruling party, fmr inspector general of police to mention but a few .might have made, . It is now the right time to work in conjunction with kabiyesi has this will bring more progress to the town, divided we fall but if we unite together we can move mountains. BABALOLA Lagos
