In a statement personally signed by him and issued on Friday morning,Mallam Rasheed who is also a member of the APC said “when all factors are taken into account, Mudashir is better qualified for the senate than all current contenders. I have the following reasons for this position.
“Osun West needs a Senator who can get two major roads into the budget, ensure fund release and follow up implementation. Those roads are Osogbo-Iwo-Ibadan road and Gbongon-Iwo-Oyo road. A PDP senator especially an inexperience one for that matter cannot achieve that feat.
” We need a Senator who will enter the Senate as a ranking member and therefore well positioned to assume critical position within the Senate and legislative structure which can be deployed to assist Osun West. A neophyte will spend the next two years groping in the darkroom of Abuja power establishment.
” Secondly,it is ridiculous to send a PDP senator to a Federal Government controlled by APC. What influence will he wields? Which Minister can he compels? How can he influenced the Minister of Water Resources to include Ejigbo and Iwo Waterworks in the federal budget? An APC Senator who understands the power structure in Abuja like Mudashir can achieve such.
” Thirdly, we have been clamouring for home-based leadership and representation. Yet some people rejected Senator Akinlabi Olasunkani,Bamidele Sallam,Col Falabi in favour of a returnee from the United States. The PDP candidate is more like the “ajele”. Mudashir is a grassroots politician.
” And lastly on the issue of competency,I was a reporter at the House of Representatives when the APC candidate was the federal lawmaker. I was in government when he was in the Senate and I can attest to his shrewd legislative skills with several bills and resolutions to his credit”,Mallam Olawale said.
He urged people of Osun West to exercise their voting rights based on factual analysis and dispassionate review of those contending for the senate seat, advising that ” any decision based on emotional considerations can not be right”.
