Osun West By- Election: Rigging Is An Invitation To Civil Unrest-Political Pundit

Those who believe Aregbesola will manipulate July 8 bye-election of Osun west senatorial district in favour of his #MudasirHussein and go Scot free are either myopic in reasoning or they do not know the potency of history in human existence.

Below was stated by a political pundit, Taoheed Ademola yesterday in Osogbo

According to him “Historically; When Aregbesola himself was rigged out of April 14, 2007 gubernatorial election in the state of osun; there was violence  in almost every part of the state; Osogbo, Ilesha and Iwo were ranked the most  trouble zone by the commissioner of police in that year. After the announcement of Oyinlola as the winner of the election by Maurice Iwu boys; the electorates who believed their votes are the only political weapons to ventilate their grievances against the Oyinlola administration do not relent on their effort to kick oyinlola out of  Bola Ige house; they started to ferment trouble across the state; many lost their lives and properties;  many were illegally jailed; the ever rugged electorates doesn’t allowed the killings and jailings to derailed the battle; the electorates continue the battle to retrieve their stolen mandate from Oyinlola led govt until they triumphed in the court of appeal on November 26, 2010.

Also; In August 9, 2014; the same electorates who believed their votes must be counted without been rigged in favoured of any candidate defeated the power of guns at the disposal of DSS, POLICE, and Soldiers that littered the state of Osun during the re-election bid of Ogbeni Aregbesola in 2014.

In conclusion; it is wrong for anyone to believed that Aregbesola who had benefitted hugely from the doggedness and stubbornness of Osun electorates in the past would manipulate the forthcoming bye election of Osun west senatorial district and go scot- free without facing the consequences of his action. It is not even wrong to equate that kind of myopic thought as an invitation to anarchy.

However, signal from Aregbesola’s camp by his core loyalists stated that the Governor would not manipulete the election but his past political popularity and power of incumbent would earn Husain a necessary victory at the poll.

They argued that the serving popularity of the governor is not so much to make him look the election. This is because the by-election would be a template to what is expected in the next year governorship election.

They opined that the gang up of the political elites in the different political parties against the APC candidate, Senator Mudashir Hussein is tantamount to a gang up against the governor. This is a reflection of the building gulf between the home based politicians and Lagos based politicians which the loyalists believe would fail.
