Osun State government has confirmed that local government elections will be conducted in the state not later than January 2018.
Amiloaded gathered this while interviewing the state Commissioner for Local government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Barrister Kolapo Alimi in his office, he also said parliamentary system would be adopted.
Since the advent of the Rauf Aregbesola’s administration in Osun state, Calls have been continually made for elected representatives of the people at the various local governments in the state.

But the commissioner in his response pointed that the delay was due to litigations initiated by the opposition parties and paucity of funds.
Kolapo Alimi however said the coast is clear to hold the election after the Supreme Court judgement on the matter and the state government is ready to bring government closer to the people, using parliamentary system.
