Osun Police Drag Husband To Court For Locking-Up Wife, Children In OAU Staff Quarters

 

The Osun State Police Command on Thursday, dragged a 52 year-old father of three, Bejide Ayodele,l for allegedly locking-up his wife and children in their house with padlocks at House E3, Road 22, OAU Senior Staff Quarters, Ile-Ife

The Police Prosecutor, Sergeant Saheed Anifowose, told the court that the father committed the offence between September 17th and 18th, 2020 around 4:50 pm in House E3, Road 22, OAU Senior Staff Quarters, Ile-Ife.

He disclosed that the defendant intimidated her children – Mary Lawance, Ayoowuro Bejide and Tobiloba Bejide – by breaking and injuring them in their home.

Anifowise disclosed further that the defendant conducted himself in a manner likely to cause the breach of peace.

The Prosecutor stated further that Mr Bejide entered his residential apartment and locked his wife, Folake Bejide and three children in their house with padlocks.

Anifowose argued that the offence contravened sections 81, 86 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.

However, when the three-count charge of threat with violence, intimidation and breach of peace were read to the defendant, he pleaded not guilty.

The defence counsel, Mrs Temitope Olajolo, applied for the bail of Bejide.

While ruling, Magistrate A. A. Adebayo granted his bail in the sum of N500,000 with one surety in like sum.

He, however, adjourned the case till January 1, 2021 for mentioning.
