Osun PDP Crisis: Party Leaders Back Suspension Of Party Chairman

The crisis rocking Peoples Democratic Party, Osun State has taken another turn as leaders across the state-backed the suspension of the chairman of the party, Hon. Soji Adagunodo.

According to a letter from the party National Secretariat dated 30th April 2020 which was signed by the secretary of the party, Senator Umaru Tsauri, directed Adagunodo to step aside from office pending a full investigation into allegations of malfeasance, maladministration and anti-party activities laid against him.

A statement by Sen. Kolawole Ogunwale, on behalf of the Osun State leaders of PDP, made available to The Nation on Tuesday disclosed that the leaders of the party supported the suspension of Hon. Adagunodo.

The leaders also commended the National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus for bold and decisive steps to intervene into the lingering issues against the Chairman of the party.

“The leadership and stakeholders of Osun PDP, the membership of our great part across the length and breadth of the 332 wards in osun state, our well-wishers and party sympathizers within and outside Osun state, wish to express our profound gratitude to the Prince Uche Secondus led National Working Committee (NWC) of our great party/PDP, and at the same time applaud and celebrate the recent effort to salvage the soul and architectural structure of our party from collapse.”

He held that the move to investigate the authenticity of the allegations contained in the petitions is indeed the right step in the right direction.

He added, “We, therefore, appeal to the National Working Committee to please expedite the process of investigation without much delay. Since the NWC have found merit in the report of the fact-finding panel/committee (that listened and heard all parties involved in the petition when they came to osun state), the investigation should, therefore, be unambiguous in this matter.

“We pray that God will grant the members of the National Disciplinary Committee(NDC) the divine wisdom and sound intellectual fairness to carry out this assignment with apt and precision to deliver justice in this onerous task,” he added.
