The Peoples Democratic Party, Osun state chapter commiserates with the leader of Afenifere, Pa Ayo Fashoranti over the gruesome murder of his daughter, Mrs. Funke Olakunrin, nee Fashoranti along Ore road on Friday.
The State Chairman of the party, Hon. Olasoji Adagunodo in a statement made available to news men in Osogbo revealed that “the lukewarm attitude of the powers that be in the South West is a dangerous signal which he said is gradually heading towards a dangerous security breach in the South West as being exhibited by the incessant attack on our people by the Fulani Herdsmen.”
It will be recalled that Hon. Adagunodo issued a similar statement recently which was addressed to Governor Isiaka Gboyega Oyetola of Osun State where he called for a collaborative efforts among all politicians in Osun State to join the state government in fighting insurgency in Osun State in particular and in the South West sub-region in general where he said “the security of our territory as Yoruba nation goes beyond political party affiliation, it is only the joint efforts and collaboration of all, irrespective of political leaning, that can safe us.”
In that release, Adagunodo specifically alerted the governor that “we are all citizens of the State and the security encroachment is affecting all of us together without political party consideration by our attackers.”
Adagunodo had then specifically advised the sitting governor of Osun State, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola to engage all citizens of Osun state in all political parties to jointly fight insurgents. He said this when he advised local people to “let all villages, communities, hamlets, towns and cities to bring out their local hunters and vigilante group get equipped and the government of the day to render all necessary security assistance to the local people with a view to securing our dear state because we know our territories and we know ourselves than any stranger around us. ” Adagunodo had alerted when the rate of attacks, killings, maiming, robbery and raping of women and children became rampant along Ikire axis of Ibadan-Ife-Ilesa road. The observation of Hon. Soji Adagunido is becoming a prophetic statement if into cognisance, the vast growing criminal tendencies and penchant for spoil taking on our people by the Fulani Herdsmen and other bandits in whatever form or disguise.
However, Hon. Olasoji Adagunodo also commiserate with Mr. Olakunrin, the husband of Mrs. Funke Olakunrin and his entire family praying to God to give him and his family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss caused by tarrying, sluggishness and unwillingness of the leadership of Yoruba nation to tackle the insurgency headlong and crush the rebellion once and for all because they don’t want to offend President Muhammadu Buhari who has exposed himself to be too protective of the Fulani Herdsmen with his reluctance at bringing them to book.
He therefore appealed to the Governors, elected representatives of the Yoruba nation at all levels of government and Afenifere leaders to stop their meaningless propaganda and verbal threat to deal with that terrorists but should take up the challenges of securing the lives and property of the citizens in Yoruba land to avoid the situation from degenerating into the intractable one being experienced in the North Eastern region of Nigeria.
