Osun IBEDC Introduces New Initiative Scheme, MAP To Curb Meter Procurement Risks

The management of Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company IBEDC, Osun State regional office has introduced a new metering initiative scheme called Meter Asset Provider MAP targeted to aiding hitch free procurement and installation of meters to their consumers across the state.

At a symposium held on Tuesday in Osogbo, Osun State Capital,  the IBEDC Chief Operating Officer, Engr. John Ayodele acquainted stakeholders and consumers on the benefits and purposes MAP is to serve, which the hallmark is to ensure safety in purchase and installation of meters in all consumers’ homes.

According to him, Meter Asset Providers are companies licensed by the National Electricity Regulatory Commission NERC to procure, and install meters to customers of Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company across the country.

Ayodele who was ably represented at the venue by the Head, Branding and Corporate Communication, Mrs Angela Olanrewaju highlighted seven major companies under MAP, licensed to procure and install meters for customers across Nigeria, adding that Mojec International Limited and Tinuten Nigeria Limited have been assigned to be in charge of Osun.

He cautioned the residents of the state not to patronize unlicensed agents, as the only option for application of meters are online and nearby IBEDC offices.

Osun IBEDC Regional Head, Mr. Akin Ogunleye noted that efforts have been made to ensure workers of the company are assigned to individual homes for technical evaluation in order to ascertain the suitability of customers premises for metering and type of meter either single or three faces suitable for the customers all which will be done by MAP Officials alone.

He assured consumers of efficient services as distribution and installation of individual’s meters will be done after 10days of application.

Ogunleye said the programme which will curb unnecessary estimated billings has commenced since 1st of August, 2019. He enjoined both active and prospective customers and stakeholders to
