Osun Guber Aspirant, Albert Adeogun Preaches Peace, Urges Voters to Shun Electoral Violence

A governorship aspirant for the Osun gubernatorial election coming up in September, 2018 under the People’s Democratic Party, Barrister Albert Abiodun Adeogun has reiterated his commitment to the welfare of the people of Osun if voted in. He made this statement during an official declaration of his intention to contest for election earlier in Osogbo, today.

While highlighting his agenda, the current Honourable of the Osun House of Assembly also promised to enrich the lives of the citizens, urging them not to engage in election violence and votes selling. He then pleaded with the party executives not to engage in favouritism during the primary election.

Bemoaning the economic recession the state is facing under the administration of the current leadership, the former Comptroller of Customs informed the electorate and his supporters of the need to vote for the right choice.

“The present administration is flawed. The government owes salaries to teachers at all levels, even the civil servants are not left out. Those that are being paid are not even paid their full salaries. Have you ever heard that a Commissioner is being owed arrears? No, it is only the teachers and civil servants that suffers”.

“Politics is not a do or die affair. If I am not elected, I would neither be involved in post-election riot not would I instigate others to do such. But by the special grace of God, if I do get elected, the economy of the state would witness a positive turnaround through proper monitoring of finance and agriculture,” he added.

In a related development, Chief Abiola Morankiyo, former Commissioner of Old Oyo and a close ally of the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo while extolling the virtues of the aspirant advised the electorate on the need to vote wisely without any form of intimidation.
In his remarks, Chief Clement Olasoji Adagunodo, Chairman, Osun PDP while receiving the letter of official declaration maintained the party’s stance that any form of manipulation and favouritism will not be allowed. He then advised the party supporters not to abuse any aspirants neither should they de-market them. While being confident that the party would do well in the governorship election come September 2018, he urged the electorate to shun any form of electoral malpractices.

Personalities at the event include the Deputy National Publicity Secretary, PDP, Dr. Diran Odeyemi, Director, Adeogun’s campaign organisation, Professor Oluyemisi Akinyemiju and a host of other party officials including members, Osun House of Assembly, local government chairmen and area offices, supporters and the invited pressmen.
