Adegboyega Oyetola, the governor of Osun State, has commended the efforts and achievements of Hon. Kola Salami, a grassroots sports enthusiast for his wisdom in using sports most especially football in uniting the youths for productive engagement.
Oyetola made this statement when the rising politician, Salami presented trophies won by his team Kola Salami FC during the just concluded “2020 Unique Egalitarian Soccer Championship Finals” held on Saturday, 5th December, 2020 at the Federal Polytechnic Ede Sports Complex.
Kola Salami FC emerged winner of the “Chief Dokun Afolabi U-17 Golden Soccer Tournament Cup” among many other prizes.
Receiving the trophy on behalf of the governor, Prince Ajibola Famurewa, OSUN SUBEB chairman said the noble gesture of Hon. Kola Salami in having a football team and sponsoring them for tournament is in line with the vision of Governor Oyetola to see that Osun youths develop in all areas of life, including sports.
The governor stressed that football has become a global phenomenon and a great tool for social mobilization of the people especially the youth. He said it was that reality that has made his administration to be investing in youth development policies and programs.
He urged Salami to continue complimenting the efforts of the state govt in youth empowerment and development in the grassroots.
Responding to the commandment by the governor, Salami appreciated the gesture and recognition of the state government adding that as young man, he is encouraged to invest in sports development because it has become a rallying point for our youths.
“it is my aim to continue to monitor the progress of the raw talents we are discovering to help them in necessary ways in the football careers,” said Salami.
Salami further stated that he would continue working for the success of the government and the party in the grassroots.
