Prince Abdullah Adeyanju Binuyo, the Deputy Chief of Staff to Governor Isiaka Gboyega Oyetola has advocated for a strong partnership and collaboration between the academia and the government.
He made this call while speaking at the Institute of Ecology and Environmental Studies, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.
According, to Binuyo, the outcome of researchers embarked upon by academics should spur better development in the society.
“There are many thesis and papers kept on the shelves in the Universities. We need to bridge the gap between the institutions and Government so that our research will speak to and solve specific problem within the society,” he said.
He expressed Governor Oyetola’s readiness to have such partnership for an accelerated economic prosperity and in fulfilment of SDG 17.
Binuyo hinted the scholars gathered at the Institute about the Governor’s resolve to develop specialised vocational training and skill acquisition centre for artisanal miners by using the existing Technical College infrastructure.
Speaking, a senior lecturer at the Institute, Dr A.A Okoya thanked the guest and described Binuyo as a proud ambassador of the institute.
Okoya said the Institute is ready and willing to assist the Government in area of research that will lead to remediation of degraded sites and advocacy.
