Osun Council Election: Why We Are Not Participating – PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party in Osun state has said it decided to boycott the Saturday local government election in the state because the poll was built on faulty and illegal foundation.

A PDP chieftain,  Hon. Soji Adagunodo made this known in a statement made available to Amiloaded on Thursday.

According to him,

“I wish to assure all members of PDP in Osun state that God Almighty will take our state out of the dark wood under the government of APC that is ruling our state.

“All their fraudulent activities, unprecedented violation of the rule of law and disregard for the Constitutional provision will soon vaporize because it was built on faulty foundation.

“However, on the upcoming local government election, PDP as a political party, will not be part of any illegality since there is a pronouncement by a court of competent jurisdiction.

“It is therefore pertinent to let you know that we are not going to participate in such an election that has been declared illegal, our party members are therefore enjoined to go about their legal businesses, avoid any confrontation, skirmishes or fight with anybody because those that will be elected in that election will be dissolved as products of utmost illegality and disobedience to the rule of law.

“Finally, I wish to inform all those who don’t know that APC has already allocated 318 councillorship positions to themselves, leaving only 71 for other political parties to struggle with. The OSIEC Chairman in an address affirmed that they are conducting elections in only 71 Wards out of 389 wards in the state.

“Let us remain resolute, resilient and consistent with the truth, avoid the illegality being perpetrated by Aregbeshola and his OSIEC collaborators because it is never heard of that one political party has the power to allocate votes to her only candidates in a election that is expected to be conducted by other political parties.”
