Osun Assembly reverses impeachment of Osogbo South LCDA chair, Olaoye

The Osun State House of Assembly has upturned the removal of the Chairman, Osogbo South Local Council Development Area, Akeem Olaoye and ordered all local council parliament to desist from impeaching any other council leader.

The council parliament has earlier on Tuesday impeached Olaoye for alleged gross misconduct and forward its decision to the State Parliament for ratification.

Consequently, at the sitting of the Assembly today, the Speaker, Hon Timothy Owoeye reversed the impeachment and asked Olaoye to continue in his capacity as the Chairman of the local council.

Owoeye said during plenary that

“With the petition received from Osogbo South LCDA today, I want to implore all Local Government and LCDA to stay away from impeaching any executive officer of their local governments or LCDA.”

“Therefore, Osogbo South LCDA Legislature should stay away from impeaching Hon. Hakeem Olaoye to maintain peaceful co-existence. Hon. Hakeem Olaoye remains the valid chairman of that local government. Leaders in that local government are urged to wage into the matter and settle it amicably.”

“I, Timothy Owoeye will not condone any act of lawlessness emanating from the local governments and LCDA under my watch, Hon. Hakeem Olaoye remains the executive chairman of Osogbo South until further notice,” the Speaker noted.
