The class of ’84, Anglican Community Grammar School, Osogbo in Osun State, has on Thursday commissioned a borehole in the school, AMILOADED reports.
Speaking, the representative of the President, ANCO 84 set, Pastor Gbenga Akanni, said, “This is a give back time by our members to the Alma mater that has contributed to our development and greatness, one way or another which we left 38 years ago.”
Also speaking at the event, Governor Oyetola, who was represented by his Special Adviser on Education, Hon. Jamiu, said, “Potable water is critical to the nutrition, health, sanitation and by extension the academic development of the the students.
“This is even more as hand washing is one of the critical protocols of the COVID-19 pandemic. The provision of the project is therefore apt, timely and appreciated.”
On his part, the Special Adviser on Water Resources and Energy, Hon. Ibitoye, who stated the importance of service to humanity, commended the effort of the donors.
A member of the 1984 set of the school, Barr. Salaudeen, requested a minute of silence in honour of the late Principal, Deacon Moses Egundeyi.
While he further enjoined the students to take the nurture and tutelage of the teachers and Principal to heart.
Deacon Emmanuel Adebayo Oyetade and Deacon Moses Olanrewaju Egundeyi who were both Principals during the 1984 set were awarded for their meritorious service to the school.
Pa Oyetade was made life patron while late Pa Egundeyi who was represented by his daughter was awarded posthumously.
The provision of the borehole had the support of the Governor of Osun State, Gboyega Oyetola, and the office of the Special Adviser on water Resources and Energy.
