Osun Amotekun Commander, Amitolu’s Mother Laid To Rest (Photos)

The remains of Alhaja Aishat Morawo Abeo Shittu, mother of revered human rights activist and Field Commander, Osun Amotekun Corps, Comrade Amitolu Shittu, were on Sunday committed to mother earth in Osogbo, the Osun State Capital.

Alhaja Shittu died Saturday evening at her residence inside Oloya’s compound, Isale-Osun, Osogbo.

The Chief Imam of Osogbo, Sheikh Musa Animasahun led other Muslims in the Janazah (funeral) prayer for the deceased shortly before her body was laid to rest at the cemetery behind Ansarudeen Mosque, Sabo Area, Osogbo.

Family members and mourners who attended the funeral described her as a ‘virtuous soul’ noting that she would be forever missed. They offered prayers and showered encomiums on the deceased for her good deeds while alive.

Son of the deceased, Comrade Amitolu Shittu, described the passage of his mother as an inevitable circumstance, saying, “my best friend and first teacher who drove me to this world has gone.”

Some of the Muslim clerics who witnessed the interment, urged people to dedicate their lives to the service God and humanity and always be conscious of the end time in all they do.

The occasion witnessed the presence of notable dignitaries from all walks of life including politicians, human rights activists, friends and associates of children of the deceased and Islamic scholars.

Some of the personalities in attendance were the Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor, Prince Abdulah Binuyo; Asiwaju Musulumi of Yorubaland, Chief Tunde Badmus; Commissioner for Special Duties; Engr. Lekan Badmus; Commissioner for Human Resources and Capacity Building, Alhaja Lateefah Giwa; Executive Secretary, State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Hon. Ajibola Famurewa; Chief Press Secretary to Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, Mr. Ismail Omipidan; Special Adviser to the Governor on Civic Engagement, Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye; Commissioner 1, (SUBEB), Alhaji Moshood Adekunle Oluawo.

Others are former Deputy Speaker, Hon. Akintunde Adegboye; Permanent Secretary, Local Government Pensions Board, Mr. Kayode Aliu; Human Rights Activist, Comrade Waheed Lawal among others.
