The African Democratic Party, ADC, in Osun state has unanimously picked a former Secretary to the State government, Prince Kazeem Inaolaji Adio, has its candidate for the September 22 election.
Prince Adio who hails from Iwo emerged through a voice vote system of primary on at the party Secretariat, Ogo Oluwa, Osogbo.
Delegates across the state and representatives of the party at the national level, led by Chief Ananyo Arinze, the party national publicity secretary who doubled as the chairman of the Osun ADC governorship primary electoral committee were in attendance.
The party adopted voice vote system where all the delegates chorused “Yes” in support of Adio as their candidate for the governorship election.
While addressing the delegates, Chief Arinze expressed delight in the manner the party members conducted themeselves and unanimously supported the candidature of Adio.
He said “I want to sincerely appreciate you members of our great party for your doggedness and the way you have comport yourselves in making this historic event a peaceful one. I am confident that with you, Osun shall be delivered from the government you have no stake in. I thank the representatives of the INEC who came out in good numbers”
The state chairman of the party, Mr Ajao Adelakin pledged to give his maximum support to Adio and urged all party faithful to reach out to people at various levels making them realize that the ADC has come with the positive change they have always craved for.
In his acceptance speech, Prince Adio said he would use his mandate to serve the party and the people of Osun.
The governorship candidate said, “Osun state belongs to all of us and it is high time we stopped people siphoning all that is ours to an unknown land. ADC is the vehicle that will take us there. So I’m calling on all the good people of Osun and all those that are solidly with us to help us take back our land”
Prince Adio thanked the duo former president of Nigeria Chief Olusegun Obasanjo and former governor of Osun State, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola for their selfless service to see that Osun state and Nigeria is delivered from the hands of oppressors.
