Osun 2022: PDP Debunks Appointment Of Candidate, Says Aspirants Free To Contest

The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun East Senatorial District, has debunked claims that it has appointed candidate for the forthcoming governorship election in the state, AMILOADED reports.

The leaders of the party made their position known in a communique issued at the end of the meeting held on Sunday in Ilesa, Osun State.

The communique was signed by the senatorial chairman, Mr Wale Ojo, and other 48 members in attendance.

The communique which encouraged the aspiration of the former chairman of Atakumosa East Local Government, Mr Sanya Omirin, to contest the governorship election on the PDP platform, noted that the door is also open to other aspirants who might also be willing to contest for the position.

According to the communiqué, “Any forum or group that has adopted any aspirant for the governorship position on the platform of the PDP at this time negates the party’s constitution, rules and procedures.”

The PDP leaders further declared their support for the aspiration of the former governor of the state, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, for the position of the National Chairman of the party.

The communique added that, henceforth, “the seatorial meeting should be rotated among the three Federal Constituencies in the zone and such meeting should start holding immediately and frequently too”.
