The male market leaders in Osun State have thrown their weight behind the re-election of the state governor, Gboyega Oyetola, in the 2022 governorship election, AMILOADED reports.
The male market leaders known as ‘Babalojas’, who were led Pa David Iyiola, the Aare Babaloja of Osun State, made the pledge during a visit to Prince Gboyega Famodun in Osogbo, the state capital on Monday.
Speaking, the market leaders said they were convinced with the superlative performance of the current administration in all ramifications.
Pa Iyiola, who said he was speaking for thousands of his members and families across the state , stated that his association would do everything possible and legally allowed to ensure the re-election of Governor Oyetola in the next year’s election.
The Aare Babaloja who was accompanied to the Osogbo venue of the event by all the male market leaders in all the local government council areas of the state hinted that the state was lucky to have a gentle, peace-loving, proactive, accessible, humane and a listening governor who attends to all issues dispassionately by this time in the history of the state.
The leader of the Babalojas further commended Governor Oyetola and his cabinet for having the political will for reversing some of the anti-people policies inherited by his administration like common uniform for all secondary school pupils, payment of half salaries, renaming of secondary schools and others.
Pa Iyiola who also applauded Governor Oyetola’s administration over his monthly feeding programme added that the prevailing security architecture being enjoyed in the state is second to none as all the inhabitants of the state do sleep with their eyes closed.
The Aare Babaloja who also used the courtesy visit to congratulate the re-election of Famodun as the chairman-elect of the state APC chapter explained that the party chairman”s re-election was their answered prayer and wish.
Pa Iyiola who said that his association has been closely following and monitoring the cordial working relationship between Oyetola and Famodun stated that the state has been better off for the reigning peace.
In his remarks, the host, Gboyega Famodun, described the male market leaders as an important segment of the society who have been working assiduously for the socio-economic cum political advancement of the state.
The Osun APC chairman-elect who expressed gratitude to the Babalojas and their members for their sustained confidence in the Oyetola government assured them of the readiness of the administration to cooperate with them in all endeavours.
Some of the APC leaders in attendance on the occasion were Pa Ajao from Egbedore Local Government Council Area, Pa Alao from Ede axis of the state, Hon Segun Olanibi from Atakumosa-East, Mr Yele from Ede and Hon Kunle Ayantoye from Ifedayo Local Government Council Area of the state.
