Orolu Local Government Chairman, Prince Adekunle Benson has lauded the effort of the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC Chairman, Prof. Yakub Mahmood for keeping up to his promises to conduct a free, fair and credible election in the country.
Speaking with Amiloaded Correspondent in his polling unit at Ifon Osun, Prince Adekunle said INEC has performed beyond the expectation of the masses in ensuring a peaceful election is conducted.
Using his local government has point of reference, Prince Adekunle said, election was peacefully conducted, adding that, there were no records of violence in any polling unit in the local government.
” I really salute the effort of the INEC Chairman and President Buhari for conducting a free, fair and credible election this February 23 election, and I believe situation will not be different in the next election come March 9″.
While speaking about electoral violence and its implications, Prince Adekunle decried the obnoxious act, adding that any body caught in the forthcoming election, perpetrating any unlawful act will be apprehended and handed over to the authority for proper punishment.
“Anybody that is caught in ballot snatching or any form of electoral malpractices or violence will be handed over to the security personnel, as only this can bring peace to the society.”
He therefore urged all candidates seeking for one post or the other to embrace peace and whoever that loses should accept defeat, as there must be a winner in every competition.
