A socio-political group in Osun state, the Oranmiyan group has thrown it’s weight behind the candidature of Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the September 22nd governorship election in the state.
The group endorsed Oyetola in a statement issued and signed by the its spokesman, Comrade Sodiq Olajide, a copy of which was made available to newsmen in Osogbo on Saturday.
Olajide noted that the only way for the people of the state to reciprocate the good work of Governor Rauf Aregbesola was for them to come out en masse and cast their vote for Oyetola.
According to the group’s spokesman, Oyetola’s endorsement was hinged on the belief they had in his mental capacity to lead the state to the greater heights.
The group said, “We members of Oranmiyan group unanimously endorse the candidature of Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola as the candidate to take over the mantle of power and continue the good job of Governor Rauf Aregbesola from where he stops.
“We have all listened to the manifesto of Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola and we are very impressed. Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola is a man of many parts with vast experience in politics, business and public administration.”
“He is a well known technocrat as well as a progressive politician. He cut his political teeth when he along with other prominent Nigerians in 1998 founded the Alliance for Democracy, AD, and has been a chieftain of the party through its metamorphosis to Action Congress, AC, Action Congress Of Nigeria, ACN and now All Progressives Congress, APC.”
He added that Oyetola has worked with Aregbesola for over seven and half years and he knows and understands what good governance is all about.”
“As a matter of fact, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola has specifically said job creation would be upper most in his mind. He has promised to consolidate on the Six Point Integral Action Plan of Rauf Aregbesola if he eventually becomes the next governor of the State.”
The group therefore urged the people of the state to vote for the most credible candidate that would guarantee continuity of Governor Rauf Aregbesola’s good work in Osun.
“We also want to appeal to all aspirants that contested against Oyetola for the party ticket to maintain the spirit of sportsmanship in them and work with the party’s candidate in as much as they all belong to the same progressive party.
“We urge all members of party to start working assiduously by canvassing votes and mobilising people for Oyetola and APC.”
The group also enjoined those who are yet to collect their Permanent Voters Card (PVC) to do so in order to be able to exercise their civic responsibility in the election.
