Ora Igbomina Agog As Monarch Celebrates New Yam Festival

Ora Igbomina community in Ifedayo Local Government, Osun State, was agog recently as the traditional ruler of the town, Oba surveyor Joshua Tinuoye Atolagbe, Ilufemiloye Odumirinkanle II, the Asa ‘Ooni of Ora Igbomina land, celebrated the New Yam festival, AMILOADED reports.

The annual festival attracted thousands of people to the town despite the short Rainfall in the year 2021.

The event held at the Oja Oba in Ora Igbomina on June 10, 2021, attracted illustrious sons and daughters of the community who came to show solidarity to the traditional ruler, Kabiyesi Asaooni.

The event, which serves as the royal approval for the people of the ancient town to start enjoying new yams in the town, thrilled the large crowd that gathered to witness the monarch celebrate this year’s New Yam festival.

According to the spokesmen Babaloja and Iyaloja of Ora Igbomina, Chief Adekunle Durotoye and Chief Mrs Adedoyin respectively, the annual event marks the beginning of the harvest season as new yams are presented to the market in the town.
