Oluwo Of Iwo Has The Power To Install Wazir of Yorubaland – Sheu Habib Olaotipin Alamu

A prominent Muslim cleric in the ancient town of Iwo, Sheu Habib Olaotiipin Alamu has thrown his weight behind the traditional ruler of the town, Oluwo of Iwo, Oba (Dr) AbdulRashid Akanbi, Telu 1 on his plan to install Sheikh Ya’qub Abdul Baqi Muhammad as the Wazir of Yorubaland this Saturday.

In a statement made available to newsmen on Tuesday, Sheu Alamu said Oba Akanbi has the prerogative right and traditional powers to install Wazir despite oppositions by the League of Imams and Alfas of Yorubaland.

To the cleric, Oba Akanbi, being the only traditional ruler in Yoruba land aside Ilorin that is installed with turban (Lawani) during coronation, serves as religious leaders to Imams and Alfas, not only in Iwo but the entire Yoruba land.

Commending the efforts of the traditional ruler in propagating Islam, Sheu Alamu asked Oba Akanbi not to be deterred by some perceived enemies who may want to truncate his efforts.

“I want to salute the courage and fineness of Oba Akanbi, he is a rare Oba. He is our religious leader because the coronation is Iwo is not thesame in other parts of Yoruba land except Ilorin, which is the North Central.

” Those opposing Oluwo’s proposal of installing Wazir have forgotten that Oluwo has the rights and power to do so. They are just being unnecessary antagonistic.

“This is welcome a development and Oluwo should be commended for propagating Islam and given it a deserved face,” the cleric opined.
