Ogunbiyi Hosts PDP Faithful, Says He Has Nothing Against Adeleke

The first runner up in the gubernatorial primary election of the Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State, Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi has reaffirmed his unchanging commitment to the party and cleared the air on his pact with the leadership of the party.

Playing host to his supporters and loyalists of the party at his residence in Ile-Ogbo, in Ayedire local government area of the state, on Saturday, Ogunbiyi added that he had nothing against the candidate of the party, senator Ademola Adeleke or his family.

He also cleared the air on his rumoured senatorial bid, and the position of the party leadership on the happenings within the party, noting that members of the National Working Committee of the party had met with a view to ending the rancour within the party and in their volition brokered peace; a written agreement which was presented to him and Senator Adeleke.

He explained further, “I did not demand anything from the NWC of our party but they out of their wisdom made proposals on offices. I did not solicit for an automatic senatorial ticket from anybody.”

“I believe in party supremacy and have already put my trust in God. The leadership of the party said that my camp should present the deputy governorship candidate. And that I will be given a senator ticket.”

“Even though I am sure I won the election, for peace to reign and in view of my belief in the PDP, I was just looking. But, Adeleke’s camp had already chosen Mr. Albert Adeogun has the deputy governor candidate and till now, they have not fulfilled the agreement.”

“Notwithstanding, I am not leaving PDP. PDP is the hope of Nigerians and Osun people. I will fulfil my campaign promises to teeming PDP members in the area of human and social development despite not being the party’s candidate.”

He equally expressed readiness to work for the party’s success at the September 22 Governorship poll and implored his supporters across the state to stand firm and stay loyal to the party.

Also present at the well attended meeting were PDP leaders including Alhaji Gani Ola-Oluwa, Alh. Razaq Oluomo, Mr. Akin Adeyi, Hon.
