NIPU Honours Ikirun Indigenes Appointed To Osun Board

The National Ikirun Progressive Union (NIPU) has honoured some indigenes of the town who were appointed into various boards of the Osun State Government, AMILOADED reports.

The indigenes were honoured by the NIPU at an event held at Akinorun Grammar School in Ikirun, Osun State, on Thursday.

Those honoured by the NIPU include Hon. Hassan Olawuwo, who was appointed as a board member of the Osun State College of Education, Ila Orangun.

Others are Architect Lekan Usman, an appointed Board member of the Uniosun Teaching Hospital; and Honourable Gbolagade Adebisi, the appointed Commissioner 1, Osun State Teaching Service Commission.

Speaking at the event, the NIPU National President, Dr. Mustapha Olawuyi, spoke on the needs of the community, which according to him include, education, security, job placements amongst others.

He added that Minnaret University is about to established in Ikirun by the Ahmadiyya group.

Professor Sunday Owolabi, Professor of Accounting and and Corporate Governance, Babcock University who was the guest lecturer at the event, charged the appointees to be accountable to Ikirun community.

He said, “Governance without accountability is a waste of resources.

“Accountability is the key the Ikirun community expects of you. This community needs you irrespective of your political affiliations.”

Speaking, the Eesa of Ikirun urged the new appointees to be good ambassadors of Ikirun, saying their appointments were given on merit.

The appointees, therefore, vowed to use their position to move  Ikirun forward.
