The staff of the National Identification Management Commission NIMC has apologized to the Minister of communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami and all Nigerians for going on strike.
AMILOADED recalls that NIMC staff went on strike to protest their poor working conditions and the lack of PPEs to protect themselves against Coronavirus.
Their strike disrupted the ongoing NIN registration exercise in most parts of the country.
However, the union leaders in a meeting on Tuesday with Pantami apologized to him and Nigerians for going on strike.
This was stated in a tweet from the Federal Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy on Twitter.
”The Honourable Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Pantami, is holding an official meeting with the labour union representing NIMC under the aegis of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria, NIMC branch.
“The union members commenced the meeting by apologizing to the Honourable Minister, Dr Isa Pantami, and all Nigerians for embarking on the industrial action that stalled the NIN registration process earlier in the month,” the tweet read.
Meanwhile, Nigerians have twelve days before the close of the extended deadline for the registration and linking of National Identification Number (NIN) to their sim cards
The new deadline by the government remains February 9, 2021.
