The Bimbo Amusan Foundation (BAF), founded by Abimbola Amusan, has concluded arrangements to procure free Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) forms for over 100 students in Osun State seeking admission into Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges of Education.
In an event held on Friday 18th June 2021, the foundation presented UTME registration slips to the beneficiaries after a month-long registration process for the candidates.
Beneficiaries include students from The Apostolic Grammar School, Modakeke, Olubuse High School Ile-Ife, Ayanbeku Grammar School, Ifetedo, Winners Model College, Osogbo, Brain Builders College, Ede and so on.
The philanthropic gesture is as a result of the determination by Abimbola to ensure that he contributes his quota to the continuous development of Osun State in the educational sector.
In a statement made available to us, he stated that the scheme is aimed at benefiting not less than 100 students across secondary schools in Osun State as something needs to be done urgently to curb the increasing numbers of “out of school” children.
Abimbola Amusan is a lawyer and entrepreneur based in the USA. He is a barrister and solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, a member of the Nigerian Bar Association, the New York City Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the International Bar Association, the African Bar Association, World Youth Alliance, Project Management Institute and the Association of Professional Negotiators and Arbitrators. Abimbola is also a youth delegate to the United Nations Commission on the Status Women at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, an alumnus of the African Youth and Governance Conference, Former Count/President of the Prima Strata Club of the Obafemi Awolowo University.
Abimbola has been honoured severally with awards in recognition of his selfless leadership philosophy, philanthropic lifestyle and model professionalism. He is of the belief that young persons should develop early interest in societal decision making and governance and they should also be given opportunities for such involvements.
In 2018, the country’s adult literacy rate in Nigeria currently stood at 62.02% which was an improvement from the 51.1% obtainable in 2008. The Bimbo Amusan Foundation intends to be at the forefront of the effort to combat the menace of illiteracy in Nigeria which although improving, is still on the high side.
The registration process for the students was conducted for a period of about one month prior to the presentation of the registration slips to candidates on Friday, June 18th, 2021.
