Lagos Speaker, Desmond Elliott, Aare Ona Kakanfo, Others To Storm Osogbo For 2017 Osun NUJ Correspondents’ Chapel Week

The Correspondents’  Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Osun state will on Sunday, December 3, 2017 kick off its 2017 Press Week with a Thanksgiving Service at The Apostolic Church, Molarere Road, Ikire, Osun state.

The Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Mudashiru Obasa and a seasoned journalist and legal practitioner, Dr. Fassy Yusuff will storm Osogbo for 2017 Press Week to deliver lectures on the theme of the Week: “Media Effectiveness: Panacea to Nation’s Democratic Challenges.”

Also expected at the Award programme of the Week, according to a release issued on Friday and jointly signed by Richard Akintade and Timothy Agbor, the Chairman and Secretary of the Press Week committee respectively, is famous filmmaker and lawmaker, Hon. Desmond Elliott and the Aare Oba Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Otunba Gani Adams.

While Dr. Yusuff will on Monday, December 4 at the opening ceremony of the Week long programme deliver a public lecture  at NUJ Press Centre Hall, Gbongan/Ibandan road, Osogbo, the Lagos Speaker will on Thursday, December 7 deliver lecture on thesame theme at the Public Lecture/Award programme of the Week at White Plain Suites and Tower, Iwo/Ibadan road, Osogbo.

The Executive Governor of Osun State, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola will be the Special Guest of Honour and will declare the Press Week open on Monday, December 4.

The release, made available to Amiloaded reads, “The theme of the annual Press Week is critical at this time the nation is battling mirage of democratic challenges and media effectiveness in reporting these situations can go a long way in proffering antidotes to these challenges.

“People from different segments of the society including politicians, heads of institutions, academics, traditional rulers, captains of industry amongst others have been invited to be part of the lectures and also grace other programmes of the Press Week.

“Other programmes lined up to commemorate the 2017 Press Week of the Correspondents’ Chapel include Novelty Cooking Competition between NUJ men and men of Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) and filling of pot holes in Osogbo as the chapel’s way of giving back to the society on Tuesday,  December 6

“There will be excursion to Kiriji War site in Igbajo while the activities will be rounded off with a Jumat Service on Friday December 8, 2017 at the Police Command Mosque in Osogbo, Osun state.

“Personalities who have distinguished themselves in service to humanity and society at large will be honoured at the Award programme of the Week on Thursday, December 7, at White Plain Suites and Towers, Iwo/Ibadan road, Osogbo.”
