The Governor of the State of Osun, Gboyega Oyetola has approved the constitution of a “Revitalization Committee” for the Osun State Broadcasting Corporation conglomerate which comprises of OSBC Radio Osogbo, OSBC TV, NDTV Ibokun, Orisun FM Ile Ife, Odidere FM and Reality TV both in Iwo.
In a statement issued and signed by the Supervisor in the ministry of Information and strategy, Adelani Baderinwa, confirmed that the main objective of the committee is to dig deep into the challenges militating against the smooth and required professional operation of the OSBC group, look into the structure of the corporation and make necessary recommendations to revitalize the corporation to an enviable state.
The members of the committee who were carefully selected are core professionals in the broadcast industry who have the expertise and experience to redeem the lost image of the OSBC, they are Engr. Obaniyi Akinwale who is an indigene of Ife North LG is presently the Group Head, Technical Services, TVC, Lagos will serve as the committee chairman.
Others are Mr Taiwo Ojewande, Kayode Akinsola (Retired General Manager, Gold FM, Ilesa), Mr. J Ayo Makinde (Former Head of Presentation at Radio Continental, now working with Channels TV). Also, Prince Yeye Oyedokun (Retired Director General, OSBC), Mr Edmund Obilo (Ace Broadcaster) and Mr Olabode Awe (Director in the Ministry of Information and Strategy, State of Osun) will serve as Secretary to the Committee.
The terms of reference for the committee in summary, is to comprehensively look into the state of operation of OSBC, its challenges, its failings and offer genuine recommendations that will make OSBC one of the best broadcast organisations in structure and content around the South Western axis and Nigeria at large.
Baderinwa emphasized that the Revitalization Committee has two weeks to carry out its assignments and submit its recommendations. The government note that OSBC, which came into being in 1992, has not satisfactorily fulfill its expected roles due to varying human and technical factors since establishment, the statement concluded.
