A forum of the All Progressives Congress members who were House of Representatives candidates in the last general elections have lauded the appointment of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu led Reconciliation Committee by President Muhammadu Buhari and asked that members of the party should support the reconciliatory effort.
This was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of the meeting of the APC House of Representatives candidates held in Abuja on the 28th of February, 2018.
The communiqué signed by Hon Robinson Uwak, Hon Rotimi Makinde, Barrister Ejikeme Ugwu and Hon Umar Duhu on behalf of the group explained that the forum comprised of all 146 candidates of the All Progressive Congress to the March 28,2015 House Of Representatives election who did not win at the polls.
“We have since galvanized ourselves into a political structure to advance the fortunes of our great party. We have followed with keen interest all the political intrigues and scheming that have characterized the political landscape of our great party the APC and indeed our nation over the last three years.
We have watched front-line gladiators to the March 28,2015 battle to effect CHANGE relegated to the back side and left to wallow in obscurity, while new entrants into the party have been imported by some privileged member of our party and the government to hijack the spoils of the battle we fought.
Despite our gargantuan contribution to the success of the APC during the march 28,2015 elections many of our members have remained without government patronage by way of appointments. Government and governance has been hijacked by the powerful and privileged. We are clearly aggrieved and dissatisfied by the glaring insensitivity of those we trusted with the political fate and future of members of this forum and our teaming supporters.
Our resolutions:
1. The Forum Salutes President Muhammadu Buhari for his foresight and Wisdom in Appointing the Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu led Reconciliation Committee.
2. The Forum recognises that no Political Party can successfully go into an election with aggrieved members, cracks, disagreements among the stakeholders within its ranks and members.
3. That the appointment of the Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu Reconciliation Committee is timely to bring Peace, succor and Harmony to the Party ahead of the 2019 General Elections.
4. The Forum believes that the Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu Committee has the Sagacity and Pedigree to reconcile any/all warring and aggrieved parties.
5. The Forum hereby advises and encourages all Organs of the Party to cooperate fully with the Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu led Reconciliation Committee.
6. The Forum unequivocally calls on all leaders of APC to ensure that the Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu Reconciliation Committee succeeds in this very important National Party assignment.
7. The Forum further implores all leaders and Stakeholders to ensure that the Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu led Reconciliation Committee is given the necessary and enabling environment to succeed in its assignment of reconciling all aggrieved to sections of our great party otherwise the party may be left for doom.
8. The forum recognizes the need for tenure extension pending reconciliation of aggrieved sections of the party. Tenure extension and reconciliation will buy time for the party to navigate and eventually veer away from all or any impending disaster.
9. Finally, as concerned parties we urge the relevant organs of our great party to cautiously approach the issue of tenure extension without leaving a lacunae for the opposition to feast on.
10. Tenure extension must be applied democratically and in conformity with the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria and in strict compliance with the express provisions of the constitution of our great party the All Progressives Congress.
We shall remain committed our great party.
