JUST IN: Fire Service Gives Fresh Details On How Fire Engulfed 30 Shops In Ile Ife Market

The Administrative Officer, Osun state Fire Service, Mr. Fatai Aremu, Friday, disclosed that about 30 shops were affected by the fire that engulfed Oja-tuntun market in Ile-Ife, Thursday.

He told our correspondent that the loss was severe due to the number of shops involved and the cause was not yet known.

He disclosed that there was no electricity supply to the market and the shops were not open as at the time the fire started.

Aremu stated that fire investigation to unravel the cause of the fire has began, urging residents to remain calm.

He explained that the fire station in Ile-Ife received a call at exactly 17:30 (5.30pm) and immediately swung into action.

“They quickly proceeded to the scene and upon arrival, they saw a row of 30 shops engulfed by fire. They swung into fire fighting operation immediately.

“While fighting the fire, OAU Ile-Ife personnel and OAUTHC fire personnel also joined them, and with the combined efforts of the three fire engines, they were able to subdue the fire.”
