Iwara/Igangan Electoral Violence: Famurewa Replaces Damaged Property Of Victims

It was wild jubilation for victims of the violence that broke out in Iwara and Igangan communities, Atakunmosa East Local Government Area of Osun State, few days to the Presidential and National Assembly elections of 23rd February 2019, as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the last poll for Osun East Senatorial District, Hon. Ajibola Famurewa, has commenced replacement of the damaged properties of the victims.

Some suspected political thugs had attacked  Iwara and Igangan communities on Saturday 16th and Sunday the 17th destroying property worth millions of naira.

The hoodlums were also said to have shot an 11-year-old, Rukayat Balogun at Iwara during the siege.

Chief Gbenga Ogbara, the APC chairman at Ward 02 Igangan, Atakumosa East Local government is one of the victims of the unfortunate violence. His car and house were burnt by the hoodlums.

Ogbara, who thought all hope of regaining his lost property had gone was shocked when Famurewa paid him a visit and presented him with a Toyota Camry car with a promise that his house would be rebuilt.

Ogbara could not hide his joy as other residents of Igangan, who were affected in the violence joined him in jubilating.

Presenting the car to Ogbara on Saturday, March 2, 2019, Hon. Famurewa, who currently represent the people of Ijesa South in the House of Representatives assured other victims of succour.

Reacting to the unexpected gift, Chief Ogbara sang songs of praise to God and expressed his surprise at the kind gestures of Famurewa despite losing his senatorial bid.

He explained that he had lost hope of a quick recovery of his loss since the Peoples Democratic Party that he claimed, destroyed his property was declared as the winner of the Osun East senatorial election.

Ogbara, just like other victims, prayed God to give Hon. Famurewa a surprise.
