The Osun State Government will on Friday (today) present prize to winners of the 2021 Independence Day Essay Competition in the state.
The event, AMILOADED reports, has been slated to hold at the Multipurpose Hall of the Staff Development Centre, behind the State Secretariat Complex, Osogbo, the Osun State capital on Friday, October 1, 2021.
The Osun State Commissioner for Regional Integration and Special Duties, Hon. Olalekan Badmus, while giving details of the event, disclosed that the ministry had during the 62days submission of essays, received 702 entries from tertiary institution students across 34 degree awarding institutions in Nigeria while 114 students showed interest from our public and private secondary schools operating within Osun State.
He said, “During the 62days window opened for submission of essays, we received 702 entries from tertiary institution students across 34 degree awarding institutions in Nigeria while 114 students showed interest from our public and private secondary schools operating within Osun state. We are blessed to have seasoned academicians, high profile journalists and eminent personalities to have examined all the entries received.”
He further noted that “Mr. Femi Adefila (CEO, Rave 91.7 FM), Dr. Lasisi Olagunju (Editor, Saturday Tribune), Dr. Mrs. Yeseera Oloso (Lecturer at the department of Linguistics & Africa Languages, Kwara State University), Dr. Mrs. Temitope Akintunde (Lecturer, Osun State University)and Dr. Folorunso Ladapo (Director, General Education Studies, Adeleke University) examined our higher institution students while Mr. Toyin Yusuf (Deputy Director Current Affairs OSBC), Mr. Sikiru Akinola (Publisher, OyoInsight), Dr. Damilare Adeyemi (Lecturer, Osun State University)Mr. Femi Babatunde (Public Relations Consultant) and Mr. Gideon Adegboye (NECO & WAEC Examiner), assessed the entries from our secondary school students.”
Badmus added, “Twenty five shortlisted students from each category will be physically present at the Multipurpose Hall of the Staff Development Centre, behind the State Secretariat complex on Friday, 1st of October 2021 by 12noon under the chairmanship of Lt. General Lamidi Adeosun, the immediate past Chief of Policy and Plans of the Nigerian Army and Kabiyesi, Oba Jimoh Olanipekun Oyetunji Larooye II, The Ataoja of Osogbo as the Royal Father of the Day. Our amiable Governor, Mr. Gboyega Oyetola is the Chief Host and the Special Guest of Honour.
