The Osun State Police Command has said the command has rescued the release of the younger brother of Serikin Hausa of Sabo area of Iyere, a town Atakumosa-East in the state from the kidnappers who kidnapped him on 26th March, 2021.

AMILOADED had earlier reported that abductors kidnapped the Seriki’s brother identified as Usman at Osu town along the Ilesa-Ife expressway on Thursday.

However, in a statement on Monday by the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Opalola Yemisi said the police operatives with the efforts of other security outfits in the state mounted aggressive pressures on the kidnappers which eventually led to the release of the victim at about 10:00pm of 28th March, 2021 without any ransom paid.

She stated further that the rescued victim is presently receiving treatment in the hospital.

The statement partly reads: “The Commissioner of Police, Osun State Command, CP Olawale Olokode, psc in his unrelenting efforts and collaboration from other security outfits to rid the state of criminal activities has since the incident of the kidnap was reported on 26th March, 2021, mounted aggressive pressures on the kidnappers which eventually led to the release of the victim at about 10:00pm of 28th March, 2021 without any ransom paid. “The Command equally wishes to use this medium to debunk the rumours making round that, three persons were kidnapped in the attack. The Commissioner of Police wishes to set the record straight that, it was only one person that was kidnapped against the backdrop that, three persons were kidnapped.

“The CP enjoined the pressmen and other social media users to do proper investigative journalism before publishing to avoid misleading stories to the members of the public.

“Therefore, the CP assures the citizenry of the command’s readiness to tackle all forms of criminal activities to a standstill.”
